Signs that Elya-chan
watches too much anime:
(an ongoing self-inventory)
- When sleeping over at a friend's house, looks up from bed and says "Unfamiliar ceiling..."
- When annoyed at something, rubs her right cheek and mutters "Chiku... chiku... chiku..." When you tell her not to pick at it or it won't get better, she snaps at you "Omae ni boku no kokoro no ita mi ga wakaru no kai!!!" in her best Dilandau voice.
- Grumbles at her boss: "Omae wo korosu..." Fortunately, he doesn't know what it means.
- Reflex word for stubbing toe is no longer "Ouch!" but "Itai!!!" Also says "Oro?!" a lot, attaches -nyo to the end of sentences, and swears in Japanese, too.
- Has more anime mp3's on her hard drive than anything else.
- Has more anime/jpop cd's in her carry-it-with collection than anything else.
- Has more anime videos than any other kind.
- Can name at least five characters voiced by her favorite seiyuu. Identifies other characters by "They sound like..."
- Goes to McDonald's just for the "Hello Kitty" merchandise... because Kitty is voiced by Megumi Hayashibara.
- Is proud that her score on the Anime Purity Test rates her as a "shameful otaku", but feels she needs to work her way up to "shameless otaku." Update: As of August 2001, I have officially attained the rank of shameless otaku! **^_^**
- Uses the word bishounen in everyday conversation... with co-workers... and they know what it means.
- Co-worker's daughters want to hang out with her 'cause she knows where all the anime stuff on the web is. well, not everything. never everything. but the turnpike is a good place to start.
- Frequently pops up with "Dilandau versus [random character], who would win?" or some such comparison...
- Defines what kinda day she's having by characters. Today's a "Nene" kind of day. Look out on "Priss" or "Dilandau" days, though. ^_^;;
- Has changed from using mostly normal smileys :) to using chibi-anime-type smileys ^_^ (with sweatdrops even) ^_^;;;; (and shoujo sparkles) **^_^**
- Makes up lists like this at work. It's a "Nene" day, okay???
- Inserts random Japanese words into everyday conversations or online chats (Ohayo!!, nani?, gomen, and the like).
- One word: Cosplay.
- Tends to break into song at random times... usually singing the Escaflowne opening theme (in Japanese, of course). kimi wo kimi wo aishiteru...
- Wallscrolls are a major part of apartment decor, as are bishie action figures.
